Consultation has concluded

The City of Marion is reviewing its by-laws and you were invited to have your say in July 2014.

By-laws are laws established by councils to deal with issues specific to the council area. Council currently has six by-laws:

  1. Permits and Penalties
  2. Movable Signs
  3. Local Government Land
  4. Dogs
  5. Roads
  6. Cats

Why are they being reviewed?

By-laws need to be consistent with, and reflect, council’s strategic objectives of developing a city that is safe and liveable. It is also a legislative requirement that councils review by-laws every seven years.

At its meeting on 10 June 2014, council resolved to seek feedback, and invite submissions from the community on the proposed new by-laws. The proposed by-laws are based on council’s existing by-laws.

Note: The public were consulted on By-law No.4 – Dogs and By-law No. 6 – Cats that were reviewed last year. The proposed Dog and Cat by-laws have taken into consideration feedback from the community and the Dog and Cat Management Board.

If you have any questions, please contact Jaimie Thwaites at the City of Marion on 8375 6600.

The by-laws were available for public comment from Tuesday, 1 July to Friday, 25 July 2014.
