Will pedestrian and cycling connections be provided?

The Central and Cohen Court Reserves provide both pedestrian and cycling connections within the Tonsley Innovation District and wider community area.  A shared use pathway that will form part of the Flinders Greenway will be provided through Cohen Court Reserve. The Flinders Greenway is planned for construction in the 2023/24 financial year and will connect to the Flinders Hub and align with the rail corridor that integrates with the new Tonsley Railway Station.

Will there be additional car parking?

The Tonsley Village master plan was approved in 2017 and is being developed in stages. Future stages of the residential development will incorporate areas of on street and indented parking within the new street network. Provision of parking will support accessibility to the open space as well as support local residents and visitors. The current masterplan includes over 100 extra ‘on-street’ and ‘off-street’ car parks when compared to the 2017 approved master plan.

The Tonsley Precinct is following the lead of the 30 Year Plan by locating more housing in a higher density setting in close proximity to a major activity centre and public transport.  The Tonsley Precinct provides safe high quality walking and cycling connections to public transport and surrounding areas to encourage a shift from using cars towards walking and cycling.

Why is the existing fence between Tonsley Village and Cohen Court Reserve being removed?

The existing boundary fence between the reserves will be removed to connect the surrounding community to the Tonsley Village for walking, cycling, recreation and to access the opportunities including retail, hospitality, education and business that will be available within the precinct.

Why is a public toilet included in the concept plan?

The Tonsley Central Reserve and Cohen Court Reserves will be key attractions for local residents and visitors.  Based on the expected high level of use the precinct will receive, it is important that a toilet be provided for the community.

The toilet will be open from 7am - 7pm daily (7 days a week) and will be pre-programmed to local and unlock around these times. It will be regularly cleaned and maintained.

The toilet will also have automated cleans and a restricted use time.  If an occupant is in the toilet for more than 10 minutes a warning will sound and the unit will open.
