Why is this upgrade required?

Since the original clubroom was demolished over 15 years ago for safety reasons, the golf club members have had to make do with a temporary transportable building for a clubhouse. The current temporary facility is limited in size and does not provide a fit for purpose environment for the course operations and club activities. Apart from club members, there are thousands of rounds of golf played by casual visitors each year, and no facilities for those golfers to enjoy the social aspect of their experience before and after their round. This impacts on the viability of the course and the ability for the club to grow a healthier membership.

Why has the proposed location for the clubhouse been chosen?

This proposed location unlike large areas of the course that are owned by Boral, is council owned land. It is a requirement that the new clubhouse is built on council owned land.

This proposed location is in the same area as the old clubroom demolished 15 years ago and is considered the most suitable due to the connections to the 1st tee, 9th green, the practice green, driving range, and car park. This location will also enable the delivery of improved paving and landscaping design.

Trees, plants and screening options will form part of the landscape design to ensure the visual aspects of the course and quality of the environment are improved whilst any potential issues for residents living on the course boundary are minimised.

What stage is the project at?

Initial concept plans have been developed and we will soon be engaging with the community to progress the development of the designs for the park upgrade which includes the replacement of the golf course buildings that are no longer fit for purpose.

    When will the upgrade occur?

The design process is proposed to be completed by mid-2023 with construction anticipated to commence in late 2023. The car park component of the project is then expected to be delivered in the following 2024/25 financial year.

How much is it costing and who is funding the project?

The clubhouse, car park and surrounding landscaping budget is $3 million. There is a contribution of $200,000 from the Federal Government towards the project.

    Will local residents be consulted?

Yes, residents will be consulted during the progression of the design process and are invited to provide feedback.

Community feedback is important and will assist us progressing the design process.

We are holding a drop-in session at the club, where you can come along and find out more information on what will be included in the upgrades, have a look at the concept designs, and talk to the members of the project team.

What considerations will be given to manage increased activity at the golf course after the upgrade?

It is expected that the new facility will result in an increase in the number of rounds of golf played on the course. The facility will predominantly service golfers using the course during daytime hours with some evening activity for events. It is important to note that the clubhouse is not being designed as a function centre and will have a capacity designed around accommodating golf club patrons. The design process will also consider acoustic modelling for the clubhouse and potential screening for neighbouring houses if required.
