What will happen with my feedback?

Council values all feedback received on this draft plan and your feedback will be reported to council for review and used to assist in finalising the Tree Asset Management Plan. Council will share the final plan with the community and Making Marion participants and project followers.

What is an asset management approach?

Council seeks to maximise value to ratepayers and ensure sustainable services by optimising the use of our assets. Council trees are a physical asset and decisions made in regard to their retention, removal or species type are largely made in our operations space every day.

These decisions are affected by consulting arborists, material suppliers, contractors, community, landscape architect, developers and a range of others all of whom influence the way Council trees are managed, that in turn influence the performance or benefits public trees provide and Council’s ability to deliver greening targets.

Does this mean Council will be planting more trees?

Yes council has a target to increase its urban tree canopy by 20% from its existing level of 11.6% in line with the SA Government targets set. To achieve this we are planting 4,300 trees each year across the city and hope to have the majority of these trees planted by 2027.

I have an issue with a specific tree in my street or local reserve, how do I raise this issue?

You can lodge a request for assistance and other tree related services through our customer portal or contact our Customer Service team on 83756600

Does this mean Council will be planting different types of trees?

We plant a wide variety of species across the city and there are many factors that are taken into consideration such as verge widths, location, underground and above ground services which restrict the species we can use

Our species palate is available in our Tree Management Framework and we are committed to finding new species adaptable to climate change to ensure our tree population is protected against pest and disease problems

I would like a street tree planted in front of my property, how do I request this?
