    Who decided on this upgrade?

Council endorsed a playground upgrade for Ballara Park through the City of Marion Playground Framework in December 2017.

When will this reserve be upgraded?

Construction is anticipated to start in 2022/23.

    Will a toilet be added?

A new toilet is not part of the scope for this project as this site is a local level playground. Toilets are allocated for significantly larger playgrounds.

Will this reserve get shade sails?

No, this is a local level playground and shade sails are endorsed for larger playgrounds only. There will be new planting and trees included for natural shade and to beautify the site.

What ages or development level will this playground cater for?

This playground will cater for all ages up to 14 years old.  It will include simple and more challenging elements to ensure there are opportunities for a range of ages and development levels.  Nature play will also be provided at this site, which is a fun activity for all age groups.

Why is the carparking on Ormonde Avenue proposed for removal?

A small number of carparks on Ormonde Avenue are suggested for future removal to improve pedestrian safety and to protect and improve the health of the existing trees.  Refer to the Draft Concept Plan.  There is existing on street carparking along Ormonde Avenue, Kelvin Avenue and Ballara Avenue that will be retained.

Why is the white chain and post fence being removed?

The white chain and post fence along Ormonde Avenue is proposed for removal as it has reached the end of its useful life and is no longer required.  For further information see the Draft Concept Plan.

Why is the existing playground being removed?

The existing playground is being removed as it has reached the end of its asset life and now requires replacement.  A new location has been selected for the new play space to reduce the risk of incidents from falling tree limbs. The existing playground location will be converted to a natural garden bed.
