Berrima Road, Sheidow Park

The City of Marion is aware of the parking and congestion issues occurring on Berrima Road associated with the drop-off and pick-up of children attending the St Martin de Porres School.

While this congestion only occurs in the morning and afternoon peaks, it is recognised that the road (being a public space) is utilised by a variety of road users with different requirements, in other words competing needs. These needs include the movement of traffic, access to property and on-street parking.

To improve the situation Council has been working with the School, resulting in a proposal to implement a ‘one-way’ north bound road and partially indented 60° angled parking bays.

It should be noted that Council and the School are also considering the possibility of utilising some of the Spinnaker Court East Reserve for parking.

The main features of the design are:

  • A ‘one-way’ road (north bound), from Werlinga Road to Adams Road;
  • The provision of 60 degree angle parking along the western side of the road; and
  • Removal of the cul-de-sac turn around area (at the northern end) and the provision of additional parking spaces.
