Construction nears for libary - August 2012

Building work on the $13.4 million Hallett Cove library, community and enterprise centre has moved a step closer with the pre-tender phase for the selection of a construction company nearing completion.

Expressions of Interest opened in November last year from which a shortlist of builders will be asked to tender for the project.

The state-of-the-art facility will give the community access to about 35,000 books, e-books, magazines, DVDs and CDs.

Additionally, there will be community meeting rooms, activity areas, business training facilities, high-speed internet, smart LCD screens and a children’s toy library.

The Hallett Cove library, community and enterprise centre is being funded by $3.4 million from the Australian Government under the Regional Development Initiative and the City of Marion which is investing up to $10 million.

Further community consultation on the services and facilities provided will take place over the next six months and people can get involved by registering here online
