Yes, there will. Council has in place agreements with both the Lutheran and Baptist churches to develop land on their sites and convert into additional parking spaces for users of the centre. With development on both sides of Ragamuffin Drive and a redesigned road for ‘shared’ usage (cyclist, car, pedestrian) we are creating a precinct approach for the area.
After a community competition the facility will be known as the Cove Civic Centre. Council selected the name from 21 entries which included a mix of historical and indigenous names. Mrs Lesley Taylor, a resident of Hallett Cove for the past 27 years submitted the winning entry.
What type of environmentally friendly features does the building have?
The building has been designed to include as much natural light as possible. High-tech ventilation has also been included to allow for the flow of fresh air and therefore less reliance on heating and cooling. Solar panels will be installed to reduce electricity costs. Rainwater will be captured and recycled for landscape irrigation and toilet flushing.
Q. Who is the building company contracted to build the facility?
Mossop Construction and Interiors have been awarded the contract to build the $13.4 million complex after a tender process. Located in Hindmarsh, Mossop is a South Australian company with 30 plus years of experience.
