When will this project be delivered?

Detailed designs are complete and construction is scheduled to commence in April 2024 with an expected completion date of August 2024.

Why is Warracowie Way closed to vehicles during construction of the plaza?

The safety of the community is Councils and Outside Ideas' priority.

    • The construction of the MCC plaza requires extensive trenching within the existing road and upgrading pavements. Large heavy machinery will be present to undertake this work

    • To ensure the work zone is clearly defined, temporary fencing will surround the entire area, closing vehicle access.

    • The construction program has been designed to provide efficiency, reducing the length of time impacted by works.

    • We appreciate the road closure may cause the community some inconvenience. We thank them for their patience whilst we upgrade the plaza.

Will I be able to access Bunnings and Westfield during construction of the plaza?

    • Yes - vehicle access to Westfield and Bunnings will be via the signalised intersections on Diagonal Road and Morphett Road and Sturt Rd

    • Pedestrian access will be provided adjacent to Warracowie Way and Centrelink to support patrons access services on Milham Street, State Aquatic Centre and Health Services.

Will I be able to access car parking during construction of the plaza?

    • Existing car parking on Milham Street and the multi deck car park adjacent the State Aquatic Centre will not be impacted and will be accessible via Morphett Road

    • Car parking within the surrounds of Westfield will not be impacted by the works with access via Diagonal, Morphett and Sturt Road.

    • The Marion Cultural Centre car park (to the south of the building) will not be impacted by the works and will be accessible via Diagonal Road

Will services such as the Marion Cultural Centre, (Library, Gallery M, Theatre and Domain and Pancake Kitchen) be impacted by the construction works?

It will be business as usual to all facilities and services. Access will be via the southern car park entry.
