What else is happening in Marino?

Council is investing in the local Marino community now and into the future amid record low rate increases.
    We have:

    • Committed $2.5m to rebuild Marino Community Hall
    • Spent $320,000 upgrading Bandon Terrace Reserve playground, with more landscaping planned
    • Invested $650,000 on drainage at Bandon Terrace and Shaftesbury Lane
    • Spent $435,000 on drainage at Forrest Avenue
    • Plans to upgrade Nimboya Road Reserve and build a scooter track for $60,000 and a trail linking Robertson Road Reserve to the Coastal Walking Trail for $30,000
    • Plans to install seating and landscaping at Newland Avenue Linear Park for $15,000 and seating at Westcliff Reserve for $5,000

Why does the new court run east / west?

By placing the new court east west, we can separate the basketball and netball rings, without having to fix the retaining mound in the north east corner. This orientation also protects and enhances growing conditions for existing trees.

Is the land at McConnell Avenue Reserve West being sold?

Council voted to adjourn a decision on the western portion of the reserve until the General Council meeting in February 2022. This is a separate consultation to McConnell Avenue Reserve East Open Space upgrade. More information can be found here

When will the upgrade to McConnell Avenue Reserve East occur?

Construction will begin from July 2021.

Will we see the final design?

We are developing a concept design.

The concept design will be available on the website and we will update residents who submitted this survey.

Will a playground be built on the site?

No playground will be constructed. This site was not endorsed for a playground within the Open Space or Playground Frameworks. There are playgrounds nearby at Bandon Terrace Reserve and Nimboya Road Reserve, as well as Holdfast Bay. There may be opportunity for imagination play and some nature play items.

Will a public toilet be constructed?

No, there is no provision for a public toilet.

    Will the car parking remain?

The existing car parking will remain as is.
