Consultation has concluded
In March 2016 we applied for a grant from the Federal Governments Safer Streets Programme to enhance community safety and security.
In July 2016 we were advised our application was successful and the project will see nine closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras and recording equipment installed at the newly upgraded Oaklands Recreation Plaza.
The objectives of this project will be to:
Increase and promote community safety and the perception of safety at the Oaklands Recreation Plaza in Oaklands Park
Reduce criminal activity and anti-social behaviour at the Oaklands Recreation Plaza in Oaklands Park, and
Build community pride and ownership of the Oaklands Recreation Plaza in Oaklands Park as a safe place for all members of the community.
The cameras are intended to be installed in early 2017.
As part of our funding agreement we are required to evaluate the effectiveness of how the cameras have increased community perceptions of safety.
We conducted a survey during October 2016 and will be re surveying the community in April 2017 to assess the impacts the installation of CCTV may have had on community safety.
Thank you for those who participated.
