What is planned for this space?

The Wistow Crescent Reserve is a local level playground designed to cater for people living and working within walking distance. This space will be less developed and provide environmental value to the community.

    The upgrade includes:

    • A natural timber multi-station with various climbing equipment and a slide
    • Swing
    • Nature play including log steppers, balancing logs and stepping stones
    • New trees, planting and landscaping
    • A new pathway from Wistow Crescent into the reserve
    • New irrigation
    • New drinking fountain
    • Seat

For further information please refer to the Wistow Reserve - Final Concept Plan.

    Who decided on this upgrade?

Council endorsed a playground upgrade for Wistow Crescent Reserve through the City of Marion Playground Framework in December 2017.

When will this reserve be upgraded?

Construction is anticipated to start in 2021 / 2022.

    Will a toilet be added?

No. A new toilet is not part of the scope for this project as this site is a local level playground. Toilets are allocated for significantly larger playgrounds.

Will this reserve get shade sails?

No. This is a local level playground and shade sails are endorsed for larger playgrounds only. There will be new planting and trees included for natural shade and to beautify the site.

What ages or development level will this playground cater for?

This playground will cater for all ages up to 14 years old.  It will include simple and more challenging elements to ensure there are opportunities for a range of ages and development levels.  Nature play will also be provided at this site, which is a fun activity for all age groups.

Where can I go to experience a broad range of play opportunities?

A regional playground is planned for Hugh Johnson Boulevard Reserve, Sheidow Park which is only 1km from this reserve.  View information about this project on Making Marion or the City of Marion website.
