April 2024 - Project update

Consultation on the carpark upgrade has recently closed, thank you for the feedback provided. You can now review the community feedback report.

Council are now working on the detailed design, with construction expected to start in the second half of 2024, with works scheduled to be complete by the end of the year.

Background

Moreland Avenue Carpark is located at the corner of Moreland Avenue and Ranford Crescent. This carpark is mostly used by local residents and members of Mitchell Park Sports Club.

Council have developed a concept design for a new carpark in place of the current gravel parking area. The new carpark has been designed to formalise parking and provide improved amenity and safety outcomes for users through delivery of a smooth asphalt surface, stormwater management, landscaping and lighting.

The proposed carpark will include the following features:

1. Asphalt surface
2. Barrier kerb & channel around the carpark
3. Line marking
4. New entrance from Moreland Avenue while the current entrance/exit remains as exit only.
5. Box drains and rock lined open swale for discharging stormwater runoff
6. Lighting
7. More trees and grass-like perennial herbs
8. Permeable paved footpath
9. New kerb ramps
