Why is this upgrade occurring?

This upgrade is part of Council's scheduled works via the Open Space Plan. This was endorsed in August 2022.

This work is guided by the Open Space Framework. To find out more about scheduled upgrade in your area check out our Open Space Plan.

    Why are we being consulted?

We want to understand the community's preference on sport, recreation, and play for this reserve. We are seeking feedback on our proposed design. Completion of the survey will help us to clarify this picture and will help shape the final reserve upgrade design.

What changes are planned for this reserve?

A neighbourhood level reserve upgrade is planned as the existing playground has reached the end of its asset life.

Key items proposed in the upgrade include but not limited to are:

    • A tree-top tower structure with 3 slides
    • Three swings (basket swing, standard swing and baby swing)
    • Pump Track
    • Sports Goals (AFL, rugby and soccer)
    • Art reflecting the history of the site
    • Landscaping
    • Drinking fountain
    • Pathway connection and seating
    • New barbeque
    • Upgraded irrigation

Will the existing playground be removed?

Yes, the play equipment is over 20 years old and is at the end of its usable life.

If the existing play equipment is valued by the community (eg slide, climbing, swings) please let us know and we can consider similar elements that could be included in the concept design for the new playground.

Will there be shade, a barbecue and toilet included in the reserve?

There is significant shade from existing trees as well as a picnic shelter which will remain. Additional trees will be planted.

There is an existing public toilet which will remain. This new facility was added in late 2020.

A new barbeque will be added as part of this upgrade.

What will happen with my feedback?

Your feedback is important to us and will help develop the concept design for Hamilton Park Reserve. The concept design will be able to available for the community and public to view by late June 2023.

When will the playground and reserve upgrade begin?

The planning and design phases will take place between March 2023 and June 2023.  Tender, procurement and construction is planned to commence next finanicial year from July 2023.

Will the new tennis court, 3 v 3 basketball court or netball ring be removed?

No, these sports elements along with a new toilet, shelter and picnic setting were added in late 2020 as part of a co-funded State government grant.

The older basketball court and playground will be removed allowing for the proposed playground and reserve upgrade to occur.

Are dogs allowed at this reserve?

Yes, dogs are allowed but they need to be on leash at all times. This will not change as part of the upgrade.

Will there be any onsite parking as part of the upgrade?

No, parking will remain on street.
