What is planned for this space?

Our plan is for new play equipment and a multi-use sports court to be installed and the reserve upgraded. The existing tennis courts, lighting and clubhouse will be removed. Open Space will be improved with a pathway, seating, a shelter, drink fountain, a barbeque, picnic table and landscaping. Your feedback will shape the play equipment placed at this reserve.

    Who decided on this upgrade?

Council endorsed a playground upgrade for Weaver Street Reserve through the City of Marion Playground Framework in December 2017.

    What feedback can I provide?

We want to know what the community priorities are for sports and types of play equipment.

While we are unable to consider everything we hear, your feedback will help us understand community priorities so it is important you take this opportunity to tell us what you think.

When is this reserve likely to be upgraded?

Consultation comments will be considered and a final design will be completed by 2021/22.

Once the final design has been developed it will be loaded onto the website. Construction is anticipated to start in 2022/2023.

Will a public toilet be constructed?

No. A new toilet is not part of the scope for this project. This is a neighbourhood level playground. Toilets are allocated for significantly larger playgrounds.

Playgrounds near Weaver Street Reserve with toilets are:

    • Castle Plaza Shopping Centre 900m away
    • Edwardstown Oval (soon to be upgraded) is 1km away
    • Hendrie Street Reserve 2.4km away

Will this reserve get shade sails?

A shade sail is planned as part of the draft design. There will be new planting and trees included for natural shade and to beautify the site.

Will the lighting at this reserve reamain?

There will be no lighting at this reserve. Old existing lighting will be removed discouraging sports use after hours.

    Will the fence be removed?

Yes, the existing white chain link fence and tennis court fences will be removed. New fencing will be added around the multi use sports court.
