The City of Marion is seeking your views on realigning the suburb boundary and a potential suburb name change for that section of Seacliff Park in the area south-west of Ocean Boulevard.

The Surveyor General is proposing to realign suburb boundaries so that the ‘Seacliff Village’ development site, on the southern side of Scholefield Road, will be in one suburb (Seacliff) rather than the current three (Seacliff, Seacliff Park, Marino).

The suburb of Seacliff Park straddles both sides of Ocean Boulevard so can cause confusion for emergency response services and the public locating properties. The Surveyor General’s proposal (Option 1) does not resolve this issue as the residential area to the south-east (in and around Clubhouse Road) and parts of the golf course and quarry further south will remain within Seacliff Park.

It is the City of Marion’s view that it is more appropriate for Scholefield Road to be the boundary of the suburb of Seacliff and the whole of the suburb of Seacliff Park (west of Ocean Boulevard) be replaced by another suburb name. The City of Marion believes that renaming the area to ‘Seacliff Heights’ (Option 2) makes sense from a logical and orderly spatial layout, giving more certainty to residents and emergency services (for example) about their exact location.

The Surveyor General, however has not accepted our proposal (Option 2). In the next stage of the process the Surveyor General will undertake formal community consultation before any changes are made.
