Background
The City of Marion is upgrading the playground at Cove Oval, Hallett Cove. This project was identified as a key priority in the Open Space Plan 2024-2034. The playground upgrade will improve and increase the play options at the oval.
We want to hear from sports clubs and the local community about how you use the site now and what kinds of play opportunities you’d like to see in the future. While we won’t be able to include every idea, your feedback will help shape the design and ensure it reflects community needs. The outcomes of this survey will be considered alongside budget, safety standards, and site constraints.
This pre design survey asks you to consider:
- How the site is used
- What play and leisure activities you would like to see
- How you will access the play areas.
We are also planning to remove the declared weed, Casuarina glauca (Swamp Oak) located near the play area and other areas around the oval.
Unfortunately, there are many of these trees around the oval. Council will carefully choose appropriate local native trees to replace them.
The Cove Football club and surrounds are also programmed for potential improvements and early planning has begun. The feedback provided in this consultation will also help to inform how the surrounds to the Cove Football Club could be improved.

We invite you to review the playground location options and then tell us your preferred location and what you think should be included in the upgrade by completing the short survey below. The feedback we receive will help shape the design for the new playground.
Consultation is open until 5pm Friday 28 October 2025 .
Contact council on 8375 6600 or email communityengagement@marion.sa.gov.au if you would like a hard copy survey or concept plan or if you require further information about the design.
Next steps
Following this pre design consultation, feedback will be reviewed and, where possible, incorporated into the draft playground design. While we won’t be able to include every idea, your feedback will help shape the design and ensure it reflects community needs. The draft design will released for consultation in early March 2026.
