About the Project

A new public toilet is planned for the Edwardstown Soldiers Memorial Recreation Ground.

A toilet will be installed at this recreation ground during the 2022/23 financial year.

This site is highly utilised and there is currently no amenity for the general public to use at this site outside of sporting club times of use.

Community consultation took place during October 2021, with two potential site options presented to the community.

Community Consultation Results

Council received 32 responses to the online survey.  The outcomes included:

  • There is high support for a public toilet with 81% (26 respondents) stating there is a need at the reserve
  • The preferred location for the toilet is option A (next to the oval) with 56% (18 respondents) supporting this option.  Comments suggested this location is preferred as it is further from properties and the carpark / traffic on East Terrace.  It can also be easily accessed by both the sport and community.
  • A total of 31% (10 respondents) supported option B (next to the carpark), and 12% (4 respondents) did not support a public toilet at the reserve.

Refer to the Edwardstown Public Toilet - Community Engagement Findings Report for more information.

Next Steps

During the 2022/23 financial year we will proceed with the installation of the new public toilet at Option A (next to the oval).
