Footpath Blitz

Marion Council recently called on the community to nominate the worst footpaths in the city as part of a year-long repair blitz.

Mayor Kris Hanna announced an unprecedented campaign – Footpath Blitz – to identify and repair broken footpaths across the city. The campaign is in response to the community telling us they want the quality of their footpaths improved.

During April and May 2020, residents could lodge examples of poor local footpaths using our Making Marion web portal or by writing to us. Council needs the location and, where possible, a photograph of the damaged infrastructure.

On the Making Marion website you could:

• Drop a pin on our interactive map and upload a photo or comment at the location of the footpath.
• Tell us where your footpath is via an online submission - you can add a photo

We also need your name and contact details so we can let you know what we find.

What we will do

• Council will inspect and assess every footpath nominated by residents.
• Priority will be given to fixing those that are unsafe while footpaths that are unsightly will be listed for repair.
• Repairs will start from 1 July 2020. If a footpath upgrade is either side of a private driveway, Council will offer a contribution of 50 per cent to the landowner to replace the driveway.
