Consultation has concluded

Council developed a concept plan for a new regional playground and reserve upgrade at Hugh Johnson Boulevard Reserve in 2020.

Key elements of the plan included:

  • Junior and adventure play
  • Basketball and fitness node
  • Nature trail
  • Shared path for bikes, trikes and pedestrians
  • Enchanted forest nature play
  • Public art
  • BMX /pump track
  • Additional carparking
  • New public toilet
  • Improvements to the existing storm water pond

The City of Marion were also successful in receiving $800,000 Open Space and Places for People funding towards the $1.6 million reserve development. At the General Council Meeting on 8 June 2021, the concept design was

At the General Council Meeting on 8 June 2021, the concept design was approved and it was agreed that the project proceed to detailed design and tender.

Construction of Hugh Johnson Boulevard Reserve commenced in February 2022, and is anticipated to be complete by June 2022.
