During September and October 2020 consultation was undertaken to understand community feedback on the concept. People could complete a short survey to provide feedback on the design.
For many generations the Marino Community Hall has served the community of Marino and surrounding suburbs by providing a place to meet, try art, do yoga and occasionally have a dance. However it’s time for us to start thinking about the future for both the Hall and the piece of adjacent land the City of Marion has recently acquired.
In November and December 2019 we conducted a comprehensive community consultation asking people what they would like to see here. We received some great ideas including opportunities for more programs, cafe and business ideas and physical hall improvements. You can view the 2019 community engagement process here.
In March 2020 Council engaged consultants to undertake a feasibility on options for the hall. Consultants visited the site with a licenced surveyor to undertake a base survey for us to use in reviewing options.
Council has committed 50% of the $5M budget ($2.5M) and is seeking the other 50% from other levels of government. Once the final design is complete we will be seeking 50% external funding to complete the project.
