Background

The Marion Outdoor Pool will close for the 2026/27 season with the City of Marion committed to important upgrade works that will improve safety, accessibility and the overall experience for visitors.

Like many other aquatic facilities that have recently been upgraded across Adelaide, it’s now Marion’s turn.

What is happening?

The project will include structural upgrades and retiling of both pools, new inclusive-access entry points, replacement of filtration systems, and reconstruction of the plant and equipment facility.

These works will extend the structural life of the pools by at least 25 years and ensure the facility continues to serve the community well into the future.

What does this mean for you?

Due to the scale of works required, the facility must close during construction. Council acknowledges the impact this closure may have on visitors, members, and community groups. Council staff will work with user groups and industry partners to support temporary arrangements where possible.

Season passes and multi-visit passes will be suspended during the closure and reactivated when the facility reopen. Those who have already renewed season passes will have those paused and receive the equivalent time remaining on those memberships when the pool re-opens

Looking ahead

Council appreciates the community’s patience and understanding while these important improvements are completed.

Council is currently in the process of selecting a preferred contractor, with works expected to start in September.

Updates on the project’s progress will be shared throughout the construction period.
