Background

The City of Marion is planning an upgrade to Mitchell Street Reserve in Seaview Downs. The reserve currently has seating, biodiversity plantings and a new irrigation system (upgraded in 2020).

We are considering other improvements to create an inviting open space and seeking community feedback to help shape the concept plan for the reserve. Some of the ideas suggested include:

  • A basketball practice court with netball goals
  • Dog-friendly features such as a drinking fountain with a water bowl

While these ideas reflect a range of possibilities, not all suggestions can be included due to budget limitations. To ensure the upgrades best reflect community priorities, we have developed a survey where you can share your preferences.

Note: We also plan to remove the declared weed Casuarina glauca (Swamp Oak) from the northern side of the reserve, along with several Itchy Pod Trees (known allergy trees) from the western side.

Community Consultation

We are now seeking community feedback on other ideas to improve the open space at Mitchell Street Reserve. You can share your views by:

  • Attending an onsite drop-in session on Tuesday, 28 October 2025 from 4 pm to 6 pm
  • Completing an online survey by 5 pm Sunday, 9 November 2025
Next steps

Following consultation, the feedback will be summarised and used to develop a concept plan for the reserve. A copy of this plan will be shared with the community for information.
