Background

The City of Marion is planning an upgrade to Mitchell Street Reserve in Seaview Downs. The reserve currently has seating, biodiversity plantings and a new irrigation system (upgraded in 2020).

A concept plan has now been finalised to create an inviting open space and includes a new:

  • Nature play trail with biodiversity plantings
  • 1.2m wide unsealed path within the reserve
  • Shelter with picnic setting
  • Seat
  • Path connections
  • Improvements to existing lawn including weed management, aeration and fertilising
  • Dog-friendly features such as a drinking fountain with a water bowl

Note: We also plan to remove the declared weed Casuarina glauca (Swamp Oak) from the northern side of the reserve, along with several Itchy Pod Trees (known allergy trees) from the western side.
