Background

The City of Marion is planning an upgrade to Mitchell Street Reserve in Seaview Downs. The reserve currently has seating, biodiversity plantings and a new irrigation system (upgraded in 2020).

We are considering other improvements to create an inviting open space and reviewing community feedback to help shape the concept plan for the reserve. Some of the ideas suggested include:

  • Nature play
  • A basketball practice court with netball goals
  • Dog-friendly features such as a drinking fountain with a water bowl

While these ideas reflect a range of possibilities, not all suggestions can be included due to budget limitations.

Note: We also plan to remove the declared weed Casuarina glauca (Swamp Oak) from the northern side of the reserve, along with several Itchy Pod Trees (known allergy trees) from the western side.

Community Consultation

Community consultation is now closed.

The community were invited to provide feedback by:

  • Attending an onsite drop-in session on Tuesday, 28 October 2025 from 4 pm to 6 pm
  • Completing an online survey by 5 pm Sunday, 9 November 2025

We are now summarising the feedback and will provide a copy of the consultation report and final concept plan soon.
