December Update
At the General Council meeting on Tuesday 9 December 2025, council endorsed the Plympton Park Local Area Traffic Management Plan.
The following works will be undertaken when budgets are identified through council's Annual Business Planning process.
🚗 Wattle Terrace: Adding a new left turn out onto Cross Road, including the removal of northbound access to Wattle from Arthur Street
🚗 Park Terrace: Install speed cushions and adjust lane marking
🚗 Aldridge Avenue Reserve: Add new line marking and DDA kerb ramps
🚗 Elizabeth Ryan Reserve (intersection of Peckham Road and Herbert Street): Add new line marking and DDA kerb ramps
🚗 Herbert Street: Removing right turn onto Cross Road whilst maintaining right turn into Herbert Street
Further initiatives will support these capital works, including:
- Reclassifying Ferry Avenue as a Collector Road.
- Monitoring traffic speeds and volumes following completion of the TGSP and the Villawood development. Page 217
- Progressively upgrading key east–west walking links and kerb ramps to improve access to high-frequency public transport.
- Reviewing traffic and parking around Plympton Oval in line with any future redevelopment.
- Investigating landscaping opportunities within redundant loop roads as they fall due for renewal
Together, this package is intended to improve safety, manage rat-running, support walking, cycling and public transport, and align local streets with Council and State transport planning frameworks

September Update
At the General Council Meeting held on Tuesday 23 September, Council Members endorsed the draft Plympton Park Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) Plan to go out for community consultation. Community consultation ran from Monday, 29 September to 5 pm, Sunday 19 October, 2025.
A LATM plan consists of the planning and management of road space within a local area. It considers neighbourhood level traffic-related problems, and proposes solutions in context of the local area, rather than in isolation.
