Project completion

The Patritti Reserve upgrade is almost complete with a new playground inspired by the history of the site. The land on which the reserve now sits was once owned by Giovanni Patritti, who grew Muscat and Doradillo grapevines there.

The fully fenced playground celebrates this heritage through a sensory garden featuring rows of ornamental grapevines, wobbly mirrors, musical and games panels, and a blackboard. At the heart of the playground is a custom play structure resembling a traditional wine press, complete with an interactive mechanical winder and talking tubes.

Other play features include a swing set, an inclusive carousel and stepping logs. A trampoline, monkey bars and balance beam provide versatile opportunities for both play and fitness.

Visitor facilities include an existing shelter with a picnic setting, barbecue facilities, bench seating and a drinking fountain, perfect for extending your stay here. The reserve also includes an accessible public toilet, cricket oval and cricket practice nets.

In recognition of the Patritti family’s significant contribution to the economic and cultural life of the City of Marion community for more than 100 years, Council proposed renaming Scarborough Terrace Reserve to “Patritti Reserve.”

A community survey was held over three weeks seeking local resident and stakeholder feedback in March 2026.

We received overwhelming community support to honour the Patritti family through the reserve name change.
