The final Business Plan is due to be endorsed by Council at its 27 June 2023 General Council meeting.

BACKGROUND

In 2022 Council undertook an eight -week community campaign called 'Shape your Future' to seek feedback from our residents, businesses, visitors and key partners to provide feedback on what is needed for the next 4 years to make the City of Marion a great place to live, work and visit. The two- month campaign ran from July-August 2022. Council received 618 responses. Council then reviewed your feedback and developed a draft Business Plan 2023-2027 that contains a range of priorities that council proposes to deliver over the next 4 years.

What we asked you in 2022

  • your hopes for the area.
  • what council need to prioritise.
  • what projects council has already committed to starting over the next 4 years.
  • What other high level community projects you think council needs to prioritise.
  • What kind of place Marion (council area) should be by 2027.

What we did

The newly-elected council developed the draft Business Plan 2023-2027 from November 2022 through to May 2023, Council held several meetings to review the initial community feedback and discussed priorities for the area across the next 4 years.

Strong consideration of the community's feedback and ideas led the delivery of the Plan. Council's Strategic Plan 2019-2029 helps set future direction with six community themes; Liveable, Valuing Nature, Engaged, Innovative, Prosperous, Connected, as well as a desire to be a Council of Excellence - these themes form the basis of priority setting.

What's in the Draft Business Plan 2023-2027

  • Our six community themes and Community Vision that will guide how our city develops.
  • What the community told us was important and what the community envisage the city to look like by 2027.
  • Major projects that council will deliver by 2027.
  • Key initiatives and high- level business activities that council will deliver by 2027.
  • Consideration of the future opportunities and challenges facing the council over the next 4 years.
  • Demographic quick facts about the City of Marion that will help planning.
