"Birds of the Flood Plain" part of Reclaiming Sturt River project 2021 by Ink and Ruby Studios. Commissioned by City of Marion
Inspired by the stories of Sturt River – Ella Simpson, Ink and Ruby Studios’ Birds of the Flood Plain mural features a Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo, Royal Spoonbill, Barn Owl and a Kookaburra nestled proudly amongst native plants – the Correa, Knobby Club Rush, Eutaxia Diffusa, Golden Wattle and Eucalyptus leaves. The mural aims to reconnect people walking, cycling or driving past the Finniss Street wall and Linear Path with nature, showcasing the beautiful birds and plant life that are native to the area and highlight the importance of the natural environment of the Sturt River area. Commissioned by City of Marion, with assistance from the Government of South Australia through Arts South Australia.
